Nowhere the driver judges safe, and no signature required, usually means your package leaves with them and returns on the next attempt. Drivers weigh visibility from the street, the weather and whether an entrance is shared, so a package that got left last week can be taken away this week without anything changing at your end. You’ll normally see an attempt recorded in your tracking history, sometimes with a note explaining why. The fix is giving them somewhere specific — a side porch, behind a planter, with a leasing office — through delivery instructions rather than hoping for the best. Signature-required packages are the exception — those need a person present, whatever instruction you leave.

Sometimes, though, it's less routine than with the national carriers. Regional networks like this one run out of sortation facilities rather than retail counters, so a hold for pickup depends on whether the facility near you accepts collections at all and what the shipper’s service allows. Ask directly, with your tracking number, before the next attempt happens — once a package is loaded for the day the options narrow sharply. If collection isn’t offered, the practical alternative is a delivery instruction that gets it left somewhere workable, or a redirect arranged through the retailer. Facilities also tend to sit in industrial areas with limited hours, so check both before driving over.

The delivery photo is the piece of evidence most likely to solve this, so begin there. Regional carriers photograph drop-offs routinely, and the picture usually shows exactly which door, step or gate the package went to — often a neighbour’s, since house numbers get misread constantly. Compare the door colour, the porch furniture, the mat, the house number if it’s visible. Then walk the perimeter properly: side gates, behind planters and bins, a back porch, a leasing office or mailroom in an apartment complex, and the neighbours either side. A scan can land a little before the driver finishes the street, so give it until evening. If the photo clearly shows somewhere that isn’t yours, report it with that detail and the exact scan time, and tell the retailer too — they’re responsible for the order reaching you and they’re who refunds or replaces.

Add them before the package goes out for delivery, because instructions entered on the morning itself often arrive too late to reach the driver. The reliable route is the carrier’s own tracking page, where instructions can usually be attached to a specific package using your number — gate codes, building access, a preferred spot, a callbox number. Put the same details in the address line at checkout as a backup, since that text travels with the label and stays visible to the driver even if nothing else does. Specific beats are vague every time: “gate code 4471, leave inside the courtyard by the blue door” gets followed far more often than “leave somewhere safe”.

It depends on what you need. For anything about the delivery itself while the package is still moving — an instruction, a hold request, a missed attempt, a photo showing the wrong address — the carrier has the information and the ability to act. For anything about the order — a refund, a replacement, a package that’s genuinely gone — the retailer is the right call, because your contract is with them and they carry responsibility for it reaching you. They can also open a claim as the shipper, which generally gets further than a recipient’s enquiry does. When a package is properly missing, do both: get the delivery detail from the carrier, then take it to the retailer.
