Track Every Parcel in Nigeria with Parcel Monitor

Drop every waybill and tracking number you're holding into Parcel Monitor and the whole picture assembles on one page — the Jumia order crossing Lagos, the package your sister sent from London, the AliExpress find still at customs. We identify each number's format automatically, so there's no guessing which company is carrying what, and each parcel displays its complete scan history directly below. Available at no cost, with no registration or account creation required to begin. If you shop or receive from abroad regularly, the upgrade is worth it: sign in with Google, connect your Gmail, and order confirmations get picked up and tracked automatically — new purchases appear in your list before you've gone looking for the waybill. One check in the morning tells you whether today needs someone home, cash ready, or nothing at all.

All of those, plus the rest of the ecosystem. NIPOST and its EMS service for the postal backbone, GIG Logistics and Red Star (FedEx's partner) for the interstate heavyweights, Kwik and the app-based riders for same-day city runs, plus ABC Transport's delivery arm and the courier services moving marketplace orders — alongside DHL, UPS and Aramex flying international packages in. Your Jumia delivery, a document from Abuja to Port Harcourt and a box from family in Houston all sit in one timeline here. We keep track of over 1,100 carriers and read every number format on sight, so it doesn't matter whose van shows up at your door. And if an international package makes the handover to a local courier after clearing customs, we follow it across the switch.

The waybill number is Nigeria's everyday name for the tracking number — the code the courier assigns when your package enters their system, and the key that unlocks its journey. Sent something at a GIG or Red Star counter? It's printed on your receipt. Expecting a delivery? It's in the SMS or email the courier or shop sent, or on the sender's copy of the waybill — ask them to forward it. Formats vary by company, but you don't need to know whose format you're holding: paste it in here and we'll identify the carrier and pull up every scan. Two things to keep straight: the order number from a shop is not the waybill (only the waybill tracks), and one order can produce two numbers when an international leg hands over to a local courier — both work here, and we link them.

Set expectations by lane and service, and Nigerian delivery stops being mysterious. Express services (DHL, UPS, Aramex) from the UK or US typically land in Lagos within three to six working days, with customs adding a few more depending on the queue and any duty assessment. Postal and economy routes run two to six weeks — the flight is short, but processing at both ends does the waiting. From China, standard e-commerce shipping realistically takes three to six weeks door to door, with consolidation before departure and Lagos customs the two big pauses; sea-freight groupage runs months and suits bulk. Then add the inland leg: Lagos and Abuja get packages first, other states add days via interstate transfer. Judge your timeline by scan rhythm, not the calendar — and know that the quiet stretch at customs is the route working, not failing.

Customs is the slowest checkpoint on the Nigerian route, and both the delay and the bill are usually legitimate — the trick is knowing what's normal. Delays come from the assessment queue, physical inspections, and volume surges; one to three weeks at the Lagos gateway is within ordinary range. On charges: imports attract duty that varies by category, VAT applies, and the courier typically adds a clearance or handling fee for doing the paperwork — they'll contact you with the total before delivery, and express carriers often pay upfront and invoice you. Ask for the breakdown: duty, VAT and service fee should be itemised, and your purchase invoice is your evidence if a declared value gets disputed. One firm caution: pay only through the courier's official channels — the "pay small money to release your package" call is Nigeria's favourite scam, and the real bill always matches a real tracking status you can verify here.

Both exist, and the difference matters. The formal couriers — GIG, Red Star, NIPOST EMS — run hub-to-hub networks: your package rides scheduled vehicles between city terminals, gets scanned at each hub, and a rider handles the final leg; tracking works throughout, which is why those scans appear in your timeline here. The informal alternative — sending a package through a motor park with a driver — is faster and cheaper on some routes but travels outside any tracking system: no waybill, no scans, and recovery depends entirely on phone calls if something goes wrong. For anything you'd mind losing, the formal network earns its fee. Within cities, app-based riders (Kwik and co) cover same-day runs with live tracking of their own. The practical read: if your seller quotes a waybill number, it's the trackable network; if they quote a driver's phone number, it isn't.

Pay-on-delivery is alive and well in Nigeria — Jumia and many stores offer it, and it's a sensible defence in a market where trust is earned. To use it well: when the rider arrives, check before cash changes hands. Confirm the waybill number on the package matches your order (your timeline here shows it), inspect the package for tampering, and where the seller allows open-on-delivery, look at the actual item — colour, size, the thing you actually ordered. Rider pushing back on inspection? A legitimate delivery survives scrutiny; pressure is information. Once you pay, disputes get harder, so the sixty seconds at the gate is your moment of power. Two more habits: keep the exact cash ready (riders rarely carry change), and if the delivery day is known, have someone at home briefed — a failed COD attempt counts as a failed delivery and restarts the cycle.

Diagnose before worrying, because a silent waybill usually has an unglamorous cause. If the number was just issued, the first scan may not have happened yet — packages handed to couriers in batches can take a day or two to enter the system; give it 48 hours. If it's an international order, the silence is often the customs stretch or a handover moment: the origin number goes quiet when a local courier takes over, and the seller may have a new local waybill to share — ask them, and add it here. If it's a domestic package mid-route, hubs between cities scan less often than you'd like; two or three days between scans on an interstate run is common. Past those windows, call the courier's service line with the number — Nigerian couriers respond better to calls than portals — and for marketplace orders, open the platform's dispute flow, which has real teeth on refunds.

In Lagos, reliability is a crowded field: GIG, Red Star, DHL for international, and the app riders all perform well, so the practical answer is whoever your seller uses — Lagos-to-Lagos delivery succeeds at high rates across the board. The picture changes with distance. For interstate routes, GIG's terminal network and Red Star's FedEx-backed system have the deepest reach and the most consistent scan discipline; NIPOST EMS covers places private couriers price out of reach, at the cost of speed. For the last stretch into smaller towns, expect handoffs to local partners and thinner tracking whoever you chose. The honest heuristic: match the carrier to the destination, not the brand — ask the seller which courier actually serves your town's terminal, because a premium name that subcontracts your last 100km beats nothing, but a network with its own office in your city beats both.

Absolutely — and it beats the WhatsApp screenshot relay your family is probably using now. When your sister in London or your cousin in Houston ships the box, all you need is the tracking number from their receipt: paste it in here and you'll see the same journey they see — the UK or US leg, the flight, Lagos customs, and the handover to the local courier — without asking them for updates every few days. It works whichever service they used: Royal Mail, USPS, DHL, or a diaspora cargo consolidator with tracking. You'll know when it hits customs (so you can be ready if charges apply) and when it's out for delivery on your side. For families doing this often, both ends tracking the same number turns "has it reached?" phone calls into a glance — and the box's arrival back into the good kind of surprise.
