The map is narrower than it used to be, but the main consumer routes run steadily. The current rule, in force since July 2026: personal imports up to €200 per package cross duty-free, and above that line a 5% duty applies on the excess, with a minimum of €1 per kilogram — a friendlier regime than the steep percentages of years past. The assessment happens during customs processing; for marketplace orders the platform usually calculates and collects anything owed at checkout or through the app, while postal packages over the line generate a payment request before release. What catches people out: the threshold is per package, so consolidating a big haul into one box can cross it where separate orders wouldn't; and declared-value games invite reassessment rather than savings. Russia's size writes the schedule. From Moscow, packages reach the Urals in two to four days and Siberia's main cities in four to seven on the standard networks; the Far East — Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and beyond — realistically runs one to two weeks by ground-and-air mix, with express air options compressing it to several days at a price. Beyond the main cities, regional delivery adds its own margin as packages transfer to local runs. The tracking reflects the geography: long quiet stretches between sorting centres are the Trans-Siberian reality, not a loss — a package silent for four days between Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk is working, not stuck. Winter adds real variance on the northern and remote routes. Judge by the last confirmed hub and the general direction of travel; the scans are sparse across the map, but they come, and each one appears here the moment it exists.

Finite patience is the rule: after a delivery attempt or arrival at your отделение, Pochta Rossii holds packages for a set storage period — the exact window depends on the shipment type, and the notice (paper or in the app) states your deadline, which is the number to trust. Marketplace orders at PVZ points run shorter windows still. Miss the deadline and the return machinery starts, which for international packages means weeks of reverse travel and a refund negotiation with the seller — the expensive outcome. The painless routine: the Pochta Rossii app shows waiting packages and lets you extend storage in many cases, collection needs your passport (or the app's digital ID flow), and a family member can collect with a notarised or in-app authorisation. Your timeline here shows the moment a package reaches the pickup stage — treat that scan as the start of your countdown.

It means your package is on the long international leg, and that leg is the quietest stretch of any journey to Russia. Between the origin country's export scan and the first Russian scan lies the flight or rail leg, the border crossing and the customs queue — steps that produce few public events, so one to three weeks of silence on this stretch is within normal range, longer in peak seasons. On the China routes there's also the handover: Cainiao or the Chinese network passes your package to Pochta Rossii or CDEK, sometimes under a new track number — check the platform's order page for it and add it here, because the story often continues under the new code while the old one sleeps. Past three to four weeks of total silence, act through the platform: AliExpress and the marketplaces run buyer-protection clocks precisely for this, and opening the dispute before the protection window closes is what preserves your refund.

The honest range: one to four weeks for the standard lines, with where you live deciding most of it. Orders to Moscow and the western cities on the established routes — Cainiao into Pochta Rossii, CDEK or the marketplace networks — commonly land in ten days to three weeks; premium and rail-based lines can beat that, and the budget no-frills options stretch past a month. Add the domestic leg for Siberia and the Far East (though packages entering via the eastern border can actually arrive there faster). The rhythm to expect in your timeline: dense Chinese scans, the quiet border-and-customs stretch, then Russian scans to your PVZ or post office. Sale seasons — 11.11 above all — add a week to everything as volumes surge. The platform's estimated window is usually honest; the buyer-protection timer is your safety net if reality overshoots it.

The essential dictionary. «Принято в отделении связи» — accepted at the post office: journey begun. «Покинуло место приёма» — left the origin facility. «Прибыло в сортировочный центр» — arrived at a sorting centre; «Покинуло сортировочный центр» — departed it; long gaps between these are the geography talking. «Передано таможне» — handed to customs, and «Выпущено таможней» — released: the border chapter, normal for international orders. «Прибыло в место вручения» — arrived at your delivery post office: the pickup clock starts here. «Ожидает адресата в месте вручения» — waiting for you, passport in hand. «Вручено адресату» — delivered. And the one nobody wants, «Возврат отправителю» — returning to sender, usually after a missed storage deadline. Whatever the Russian says, your timeline here mirrors it in plain language — and the sequence tells the story better than any single line.
