Levis Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) has announced its partnership with Lalaland.ai, a virtual fashion house that creates customized AI-generated models for clients. To increase the quantity and diversity of models in a sustainable manner, the retailer aims to conduct testing of this technology later this year utilizing AI-generated models to supplement human models, beginning later this year.
Amsterdam-based startup Lalaland.ai employs cutting-edge AI to help the fashion industry generate hyper-realistic models of all shapes, sizes, ages, and skin tones. The company's goal with these avatars that accommodate a variety of body types is to make the fashion retail industry more welcoming, individualized, and environmentally friendly for all parties involved.
Dr. Amy Gershkoff Bolles, Levi Strauss & Co's global head of digital and emerging technology strategy, commented, "We see fashion and technology as both an art and a science, and we are thrilled to be partnering with Lalaland.ai, a company with such high-quality technology that can help us continue on our journey for a more diverse and inclusive customer experience."
Currently, Levi's website and Levi's app only feature a single product model for each category. Customers want to see themselves reflected in the models they buy with, which is why the retailer is always working to broaden the range of sizes, body types, ages, and ethnicities represented among our human models. Lalaland.ai's technology will help to transform the public's perception of models, opening the door to a future in which Levi's can display their items on more models of many ethnicities and body types, giving consumers a more authentic and representative shopping experience.
