Quadient started this project in June, establishing many smart parcel lockers all over the UK and it is still expanding. DPD UK and DHL were the first members of Quadient’s open network. The two other international carriers are not yet disclosed, as the services finalization process is still ongoing.

The increasing number of carriers interested in Parcel Pending of Quadient demonstrates that Quadent’s open model is strongly adaptive to all carriers which can improve efficiency and save cost for last-mile delivery. According to consulting company Apex Insight, the final mile can take up to 50% of the overall cost of delivering a parcel. For that reason, out-of-home delivery proves that it is a go-to option.

In the coming years, Quadient aims to set up parcels in 5000 locations in the UK. The current 150 locations are fully packed in the light of the holiday season. Quadient will upgrade and adapt their services better for the UK market to attract more carriers onboard. The company is successfully operating 17,300 units in big e-commerce markets including Canada, France, Japan, UK and the United States.
