ChannelX: eBay UK Partners With Reskinned to Expand Sustainable Fashion

Sep 14, 2022

Reskinned is a sustainable preloved clothing repair and resale specialist. The company aims to extend product life, by taking back used clothing from shoppers and reconditioning it for resale, and recycling.

eBay is working with Reskinned in an effort to contribute to a more sustainable business. The new partnership not only represents an expansion of eBay's sustainable offerings to customers, but also connects Reskinned to a bigger marketplace of over 20 million shoppers through a "brand approved" shopfront.

“Across the fashion industry, we know there is a greater need to build a sustainable future. Since 1995, eBay has extended the life cycle of products, whether through consumer to consumer reselling or now the Imperfects hub, so it’s fantastic to partner with Reskinned, who are at the forefront of empowering the circular fashion economy," shared Jemma Tadd, Head of Fashion at eBay UK

Reskinned currently holds a partnership with over 30 brands including well-known ones such as Finisterre, Sweaty Betty, River Island, and Joules. Secondhand items that are renovated by Reskinned are priced around 40% lower, which is a more affordable and ethical option.

According to eBay’s global 2022 Recommerce Report, 42% of eBay’s buyers expressed their environmental concerns and stated that they expected to find a nicer way to shop. The new partnership with Reskinned will certainly satisfy this expectation.

Reskinned’s representative, Matt Hanrahan, feels optimistic about this partnership and looks forward to the development of preloved clothing demand:

“Through this partnership with eBay, the original home of preloved, we hope to increase our reach and offering of our brand partners, ensuring preloved items find new owners, and realise a more sustainable fashion future.”
