Post & Parcel: DHL Paket to Launch Two New Shipping Options for Business Customers

Business customers of DHL Paket will soon be able to access two additional delivery options for parcels that are sent to some of the EU countries: “Closest Droppoint” and “Postal Delivered Duty Paid service” (Postal DDP).
For the first service, businesses just have to tick the new delivery variant “Closest Droppoint”. By doing this, foreign delivery partners of DHL will take over and place the package in the closest drop-off points that customers choose, which might be vending machines or parcel shops. This is an economical delivery option that can also guarantee success from the first delivery attempt. The service will be first available in Denmark in September 2022, followed by Austria in November. Belgium, Sweden and Finland have to wait until 2023 and further countries are to be added in the following months.
The second service, Postal DDP is a huge help since it releases recipient customers from customs duties if applicable. From the end consumers' side, they will appreciate not having to pay extra custom clearance costs or prepare customs clearance documents. Meanwhile, business owners can benefit from the significantly accelerated delivery process as they do not have to worry about the customs fees – which have been accounted for in the delivery cost paid by customers. The United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland) will be the first area to try out this option, starting from September 2022. The service is still in preparation for other target countries such as Norway, Iceland and Switzerland
