DHL Global Forwarding Announces New Leadership for German and Swiss Operations

DHL Global Forwarding has announced significant changes to its leadership in the European region, effective from July 1, 2024. Markus Panhauser will take over as the new CEO for Germany and Switzerland, stepping up from his previous role to replace Tobias Schmidt, who will now concentrate solely on his responsibilities as CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Europe.
Markus Panhauser, who joined the Group in 2020 as Head of Ocean Freight for Europe, has been credited with substantially increasing profitability and performance levels in his sector. His appointment aims to bolster DHL Global Forwarding's presence in the critical markets of Germany and Switzerland. Under his leadership, the company anticipates a strengthened organizational structure in these countries.

Tobias Schmidt, the predecessor, has been praised for his dual role in managing the German and Swiss operations while overseeing European operations since November 2021. Schmidt's focus will now shift entirely to his broader responsibilities across Europe.
Following Panhauser's new appointment, Barbara Eleota will step into his former role as Head of Ocean Freight DHL Global Forwarding Europe starting August 1, 2024. Eleota brings over 25 years of experience in logistics, having previously worked with DB Schenker and excelled in various capacities, particularly in Trade Management and as Country Ocean Freight Manager in Italy. She will be based in Hamburg and report directly to Tobias Schmidt, aligning with Casper Ellerbaek, Global Head of Ocean Freight at DHL Global Forwarding.
The leadership transitions at DHL Global Forwarding are part of a strategic realignment aimed at enhancing the company's market share and operational efficiency in the face of growing global demands. The company has expressed confidence that the new leaders, with their extensive expertise and proven track records, will drive significant growth and innovation in their respective roles.
