DHL e-commerce will be injecting $576M across its UK e-commerce operations, DHL Parcel UK. This is part of its grand plan to expand infrastructure and invest in digitization and sustainable logistics. The investment in sustainable infrastructure and vehicles forms part of DHL Group’s sustainability strategy, in tandem with the Paris Agreement through the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Nearly half of the funding will go towards constructing a new, 25,000-square-meter hub near Coventry Airport (CVT) in England itself. The facility alone will have the capacity to manage over 500,000 items per day and is expected to create over 600 job positions. The hub will also be equipped with securely bonded storage, customs capabilities and automated warehouse functionalities to support the growing international e-commerce volumes.

“This investment is a real demonstration of the excellent work our people and partners have delivered over the past two years to get us to the level of growth,” remarked Peter Fuller, CEO of DHL Parcel UK. “E-commerce is going to continue to shape the world around us; this investment, along with the strength of the DHL brand and our leading approach to digitalization and sustainability, will put us in a strong position to take advantage of market growth,” he added.
