DB Schenker Appoints Vishal Sharma as the Regional CEO for Asia Pacific
In a strategic move, DB Schenker, a global leader in logistics services, has announced the appointment of Vishal Sharma as the new CEO for the Region Asia Pacific. Bringing over 30 years of profound industry knowledge, Sharma has been serving as the CEO of DB Schenker’s Cluster Greater China since 2021 and has been with the company for six years.
Sharma, who assumes his new role on February 1, 2024, has been an integral part of DB Schenker since 2018, initially joining as the CEO of the Cluster Indian Subcontinent. With a wealth of executive leadership experience, he is set to steer the Asia Pacific region to new heights.
Jochen Thewes, Global CEO of DB Schenker, expressed confidence in Sharma's capabilities, stating, “Vishal’s experience, combined with his extensive industry knowledge, positions him well to lead our team in the Asia Pacific region. In his previous executive roles at DB Schenker, he has proven his forwarding expertise and his customer dedication. I am confident that his leadership will contribute to the continued success of DB Schenker.”
Before his tenure at DB Schenker, Sharma held various executive leadership positions in forwarding companies across the United States, Singapore, India, and Denmark. Holding an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a Master of Management Studies from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, Sharma brings a diverse skill set to his new role.
Sharma takes over responsibilities from Dr. Niklas Wilmking, who has been appointed DB Schenker’s Board Member for Contract Logistics and Supply Chain Management. With this strategic leadership transition, DB Schenker aims to further strengthen its presence and operations in the dynamic Asia Pacific region.
