Offshore Energy: CMA CGM and La Poste Collaborate to Improve Sustainable Logistics
GeoPost, a subsidiary of La Poste, and CEVA Logistics, a part of CMA CGM Group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a closer commercial connection and collaborate on sustainable logistics. The agreement calls for developing innovative urban logistics and circular economy services in France and throughout Europe to enhance the value and competitiveness of services. Both firms will look into options for low-carbon urban delivery and other methods to lessen the environmental effect of consumer orders.
“I am very pleased with this partnership with La Poste that allows two French leaders to combine their expertise in order to strengthen each other. La Poste will be able to rely on our international network as well as on the expertise of our subsidiary CEVA Logistics in certain key businesses, just as we will be able to rely on theirs,” expressed Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM.
Philippe Wahl, Chairman and CEO of La Poste, also stated that the proposed partnership in circular economy and urban logistics services is consistent with La Poste Group's commitment to decarbonization and sustainable growth in France and Europe.
Since 2012, La Poste Group's deliveries have been carbon neutral; it assesses each parcel's carbon footprint and strives to minimize it as much as possible while offsetting any residual emissions, all to reduce its carbon emissions per parcel by 30% between 2013 and 2025. Meanwhile, CEVA Logistics provides global contract logistics, freight forwarding, and medium- and long-distance road transportation services.
According to the statement, CMA CGM Group aims to be carbon neutral by 2050. In fact, the French shipping giant has recently extended an invitation to innovative start-ups and established companies with practical solutions to submit proposals for initiatives that can hasten the decarbonization of France's maritime sector.
