Vipshop, a leading online discount retailer for brands in China, has announced its market entry into Southeast Asia. The e-commerce firm partners with over 20,000 brands to offer a selection of products, from fashion apparel to cosmetics and homeware items.

Following this launch, Bernard Tay, Vipshop’s Senior Director will take an additional role as Regional Head of Southeast Asia, overseeing the firm’s operation in this region. Prior to joining Vipshop, Bernard was the Country Leader for Amazon and also the Head of Amazon Global Selling in Southeast Asia.

Upon entering Southeast Asia, Vipshop will face veteran players such as Lazada and Shopee, which have dominated the regional marketplace for many years now. Having said that, Vipshop is fairly optimistic about its future, especially given the backing of its parent company and the support of an existing network. Just last month, the company announced total net revenues surpassing US$3 billion for Q3 2022.
