CSA: Amazon Opens Its First Ever Physical Retail Store

The world’s largest retailer, Amazon.com has recently opened its first brick-and-mortar clothing store called Amazon Style. Located at The Americana at Brand, an upscale lifestyle center in Glendale, California, the store offers men’s and women’s apparel, skincare and cosmetic products from a wide assortment of popular and premium brands.
Banking on the omnichannel shopping experience, Amazon Style is equipped with machine-learning technology, combining the personalization and convenience of e-commerce with the immediacy of brick-and-mortar shopping. The retail store follows an unconventional format, displaying only sample pieces to allow the store to offer more than double the number of products offered for sale. Using the Amazon Shopping app, customers can then scan an item’s QR code to add it to a fitting room which is unlocked using the same app. The fitting rooms are furnished with touchscreens that allow shoppers to continue requesting items to try on. To checkout, customers can scan a QR code to directly charge their account. Personalized notifications and recommendations will also be shown in real-time to ease the overall shopping experience.
“We’re so excited to offer a shopping experience that inspires discovery and combines the best of shopping on Amazon.com with the benefit of touching and trying on items to ensure a great fit”, noted Simoina Vasen, the managing director of Amazon Style.
