ASEAN Develops New Innovations to Manage Challenges Faced During COVID-19

Oct 06, 2020

We are very proud and excited to share our very first joint study with iPrice Group

When the pandemic first hit the ASEAN region in February, many businesses were struggling to keep up with the overwhelming number of orders amid disruptions in the supply chain and logistics industry. Whilst the e-commerce industry experienced a boost in sales as more consumers moved online to purchase essentials, worldwide supply chain disruptions made fulfilling these orders challenging.

In this study, Parcel Monitor and iPrice Group examined the challenges faced by the industry and the effect on delivery performance in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

One of the recent trends we have observed is the rising usage of parcel lockers in Southeast Asia. Parcel lockers are an excellent alternative to contactless delivery, and they offer a great level of flexibility for customers to pick up and return their packages.

“This will be a delivery trend that will continue to grow in ASEAN as e-commerce logistics in the region continues to mature,” said Dr. Arne Jeroschewski, Founder and CEO of Parcel Perform.

All in all, the logistics industry has found many ways to cope with the increasing demands and these innovations might change the way packages are delivered or collected.

“The pandemic has shown that the demand for e-commerce is on the rise and here to stay for the long haul,” Dr. Jeroschewski offers an optimistic outlook, “there will be many upcoming opportunities for new players in the e-commerce logistics space to take advantage of this growth in e-commerce, and they may offer an even better experience to the customers.”
