In Simon’s perspective, the word “trend” intrinsically does not match what people are trying to achieve in a supply chain- which is development. In his own words, “if we are not looking at technology, new processes, and at different ways of doing things, then we’re not providing a supply chain.”
In this episode, Simon and Rushit focused on the topic of improving the customer’s supply chain. Simon shared his journey in the freight forwarding business- how it all happen and how it started. He mentioned that the most important skills in the business would include understanding the power of a brand, storytelling, scale, and how to compete against scale. Aside from that, they also talked about leadership styles and Navia’s culture. Simon shared that his message to their leadership team is that their job is to push themselves into the next role and bring someone up with them. They also discussed how the pandemic helped boost Navia’s growth and their future expansion plans- including the possible hurdles they need to overcome. Lastly, they talked about what steps Navia is taking in relation to the recession coming in.
