In Parcel Monitor’s first e-commerce logistics infographic, our in-house data team explored Australia and put together some interesting findings.

The e-commerce industry has been experiencing strong growth over recent years, with logistics companies facing the pressure to keep up with a similar increase in demand for their services.  Consumers expect quicker turnaround times and a variety of delivery alternatives from retailers and their logistics partners.

To meet these expectations, many countries (like Australia) have started offering more delivery options.

Based on our data from 2019, 23% of Australians are using parcel lockers and collection points. With busy lifestyles and work schedules, self-collection points have risen in importance as more  consumers opt for self-servicing options to reduce the hassle of rescheduling their deliveries if they are not home to receive it. Providing these delivery alternatives can also help retailers save shipping costs and simplifies the returns process. Amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is likely that demand for self-servicing options would have increased well above this percentage as contactless delivery options continue to rise in popularity.
