Walmart’s Flipkart introduced a voice assistant feature to their e-commerce platform to make grocery shopping more convenient.

The AI powered voice assistant is currently only available in the grocery category but Flipkart looks to expand this feature further into other aspects of the platform. This new feature was launched on Tuesday (9th June) for Android users and will be available for iOS users soon.

Through this feature, users are able to access the following using voice command:

  • Explore deals and offers
  • Filter view results
  • Add multiple items to carts
  • Check out
  • Gain suggestions based on interaction within platform

Google has also reported that 27% of the global online population is using voice search on mobile. Voice search and voice command might be the rising trend for shopping within mobile apps as it increases convenience and accessibility for shoppers.
