Back in 2017, Amazon first introduced AR (augmented reality) shopping using the ‘AR View’ feature in their iOS app. However, this only allowed consumers to view one item at a time against their existing decor.
Amazon’s new ‘Room Decorator’ takes this experience a notch higher, because it allows consumers to view multiple products at one time in their space anytime, anywhere.
Consumers are able to use this feature across thousands of furniture products listed on Amazon. If the feature is available for a particular product, consumers will be able to see real-life visualization by clicking the “View in Your Room” button.
This new tool eliminates the problem that most consumers face when purchasing furniture online. By using AR technology, Room Decorator helps consumers to visualize how a product fits into their current space (e.g. design, size, and dimensions) before making the purchase.
“Amazon is always exploring new ways to create experiences that delight our customers. With the addition of Room Decorator tools, Amazon enhances its augmented reality feature to give customers an even more immersive shopping experience from the comfort of their own home, or on the go,” an Amazon spokesperson said.
