In 2022, McDonald’s ‘Convenience of the Future’ upgrade programme will introduce key innovations in 200 restaurants, with 800 conversions planned in the next four years. This includes redesigning kitchens and dining areas that better integrate digital sales channels like the McDonald’s mobile application, as well as a smarter use of restaurant spaces.

The current pilot program in Bow, Peckham and Kirby restaurants have seen tremendous success, with high customer satisfaction, positive new working environment and an overall increase in sales. With that, the revamp will continue to provide restaurant teams with the technology, equipment, and space to work collaboratively in managing more personalised orders.

“We strongly believe we have to continue to invest to grow, and this investment not only addresses how customers are ordering now but provides us with a platform to continue to adapt in the future, whatever that innovation looks like,” said McDonald’s UK&I COO, Gareth Pearson. This can be seen as McDonald’s proactive effort to future-proof its business for the omnichannel world.
